Mexican Turkey Burgers

Ingredients

3/4 lb ground turkey
1/4 lb chorizo sausage, casings removed or bulk pork sausage
1 cup corn flake cereal, crushed finely
10 oz salsa-style diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 whole avocado, peeled
1 tablespoon Freshly squeezed lemon juice
¼ cup minced green onion
1/4 tsp garlic salt
¼ teaspoon Tabasco pepper sauce
6 whole Lettuce leaves
6 whole Hamburger buns, toasted

Preparation

1. Combine the turkey, sausage, cereal, and tomatoes and green chilies in a bowl; mix well. Shape the mixture into 6 patties 3/4-inch thick.

2. To prepare the guacamole mash the avocado with lemon juice; stir in the onion, garlic salt, and hot sauce.

3. Cook the patties in a nonstick skillet over medium heat for 8 to 12 minutes, or until cooked, flipping once. Or place the patties on a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil and put on a grill. Cover with the grill lid and cook over medium-hot coals (350° to 400°F) for 7 to 8 minutes on each side. Serve on toasted buns with lettuce and guacamole.
